Force-Driven Micro- and Macro-Rheology

Abstract
We study active nonlinear microrheology (pulling a probe through a complex fluid) within a microscopic formalism for the nonequilibrium response of colloidal suspensions driven by external force, addressing the following questions: (a) How does the local structure of the suspension deform in response to single-particle forcing? (b) How does microscopic probe friction relate to transport properties measured in macro-rheology? (c) How do colloidal glasses yield, driven under microscopic and macroscopic forces?
