División de Ciencias e Ingenierías, Campus León, Universidad de Guanajuato, Mexico
Colloidal suspensions are made up of mesoscopic objects that, even in the absence of any kind of external perturbation, exhibit interesting static and dynamical properties. However, in confinement colloidal uspensions show new features that are not typically found in the bulk.
Additionally, external fields may induce changes in their phase behavior. In this talk, I will discuss both the structural and dynamic properties of colloids confined in 1D and 2D (planar and spherical) geometries. Particular emphasis is put on the effect of periodic substrates, the latter ones created, for instance, by the interference of laser beams.
