Abstract

Thomas Speck: „Space-time thermodynamics of supercooled liquids”
University of California in Berkeley, USA

I discuss the dynamics of liquids supercooled below their melting temperature approaching the glass transition. Both analytical studies and numerical investigations have shown the existence of a first order transition between an active and an inactive phase in trajectory space. This transition is not controlled by a thermodynamic quantity such as temperature or pressure. I will sketch the modeling and analytical treatment of driven systems with glassy dynamics in the framework of the so called s-ensemble.
